2019 Nissan Altima vs 2018 Nissan Altima

Serving Chattanooga, TN

The 2019 Nissan Altima has the distinction of being the first intelligent all-wheel drive Altima, but its predecessor has several standout features as well. Both vehicles are mid-size sedans with a lot of luxury and style behind their designs, so you'll want to take a close look at both models before deciding which one is best suited for your household. Mid-size luxury sedans in this price range are difficult to find packed with as many features as both the 2019 and 2018 Nissan Altima, so please do yourself a favor and don't overlook this one as a potential contender for your new vehicle.

Performance

The 2018 Altima features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that gives you a comfortable 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Nissan upgraded the 2019 engine to a 2.5-liter Inline-4 cylinder that powers out 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque . It's a noticeable upgrade but not one that would entirely rule out owning a 2018 model. Both powertrains are above average for this class of vehicle and provide more than enough mmph to get you where you're going during a daily commute. Not only this, but you've got the enhancement of intelligent all-wheel drive to make your performance more reliable in all weather conditions. In short, it's a close race in the performance category but on the basis of sheer horsepower and torque, the 2019 model is a definite upgrade. And remember, you can get the amazing ProPILOT Assist on your 2019 Altima, an out of this world driver-assistance feature that is taking the world by storm. It's about as close to a self-driving vehicle system that you can get in today's world and justifies the 2019 upgrade in a very big way.

Appearance

The 2019 Nissan Altima has sharper and features unique accents that give it an edge. With the black accents around the trunk area causes the windows to appear to extend to the back of the vehicle. The headlights allow the car to seem upscale with their design. The taillights are one of the most noticeable features on the body.

The styling of the 2018 Altima is favored by drivers, but there are still a few details that keep its character interesting. The headlights look sharp and fierce next to the black hood that features chrome detailing. The dual exhausts and large taillights are designed well and allow the car to look contemporary. Both of these vehicles are more than appealing and bring various features that cause it to stand out from the rest.

Features

They wanted to make the 2019 Altima a bit more standout than the 2018 model and one way that they did this was to throw in a V-Motion front grille (2018's featured a Centre grille style). This accomplished the goal of making the 2019 Altima look more luxurious and prominent out there on the road. Interior features were added as well. You now get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard across all trims without having to worry about upgrading at all. And in 2019, we're getting a real treat: The Edition One trim that features the world’s first variable compression turbo engine. And thanks to Nissan's Intelligent Mobility connectivity system, you'll be able to stay connected to your world anywhere you go in the Nissan Altima in 2019. Granted, the 2018 had some terrific features as well that are going to be continued in the 2019 version, including the aforementioned Intelligent Mobility system, so the question becomes just how much you're willing to spend to get the upgraded grille and additional engine choices. For some folks, the 2018 will be plenty. For others, they want the luxuriousness and raw handsomeness of the new Altima, a touch more stylish and a bit more technologically savvy.

Thanks to the grille upgrade, the intelligent all-wheel drive upgrade, and the sheer luxurious comfort of the new Altima's interior, many of our customers are going to want to get their hands on this one. And we don't blame them one bit. For those who are a bit old-fashioned and don't need the next big thing, you can always settle for the respectably powerful and comfortable 2018 Altima, a great vehicle in its own right. Just pick which one suits you best and give us a call. We'll set you up with a full test drive.
