We have all had that sinking feeling. You're driving down the road, everything is good, and then one of the warning lights on your dashboard illuminates. It is easy to get a panicked feeling when that happens, especially if you don't know what would be causing it.
To better understand what might be happening with your vehicle when that happens, here are a few quick descriptions of the more common ones.
A red oil can usually means that the vehicle has detected a drop in oil pressure in your system. This can often be remedied just by doing a quick oil change.
An exclamation point in a circle normally means that your vehicle has detected an issue with your brake system. This can be something as small as being low on brake fluid, to something larger like an issue with your anti-lock brake system.
The check engine light could come on for many several reasons. Usually what will happen is a code will be sent to the vehicle's main computer that will lead the technician down the path to finding the problem.
If you see a warning light come on in your vehicle, it is best to bring it to our service department here at Nissan of Chattanooga East and let us get it fixed and get you back out on the road safely.
