To the novice, the motor oil may not look like a big deal. It comes in a nice shiny bottle. You put the oil in the car, then you change it. But could the oil change harm the environment, if you do it improperly? Studies have shown that there are many carcinogens in used motor oil -- arsenic, benzene, cadmium and lead, to name a few. In one study, new oil had a toxicity of only 0.08 milligrams per liter compared to old oil with a toxicity of greater than 12.8 milligrams per liter.
The problem is that if you should "spill used oil onto the ground during an oil change, this hazardous waste could get into the groundwater." What is the answer? Have your dealership change your oil. We offer a safe facility, which collects the used oil. Then we dispose of it safely to protect the environment.
