2020 Nissan Altima vs 2019 Nissan Altima

Serving Chattanooga, TN

The 2019 and 2020 model years are the first two of the Nissan Altima’s sixth generation of production. With these models, Nissan gives its best-selling midsize sedan a significant overhaul: offering all-wheel drive for the first time and fine-tuning the chassis and steering for better handling. Although the 2020 receives a few enhancements, both model years are the same car. Five trims are available; they are the S, SR, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Performance

Typically, the 2019 and 2020 Altimas are powered by a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4), which produces 188 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque with the standard front-wheel drivetrain and 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque with the optional all-wheel drivetrain. However, if you choose either the SR or the Platinum, you can select the VC-Turbo instead. A smaller yet more powerful engine, this 2.0-liter turbo I4 produces 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque if you use 93-octane fuel and 238 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque if you fill the tank with 87-octane fuel. Combine the VC-Turbo engine with the front-wheel drivetrain, and you will maximize fuel efficiency at 28/39 mpg.

Appearance

The Nissan Altima was redesigned for its sixth generation of production to look more aggressive than previous models. At the base level, you can expect intelligent automatic halogen projector headlights, dual power side mirrors, chrome door handles, and 16-inch steel wheels among the vehicle’s exterior features. Upgrade in trim to add features such as LED lighting (in place of halogen light bulbs), heating ability and turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors, a dual chrome exhaust system, a power sliding glass moonroof, and 17- or 19-inch aluminum wheels.

Features

The Nissan Altima is a five-passenger vehicle featuring NASA technology-infused Zero Gravity seats to maximize comfortability. Standard comfort and convenience features include Bluetooth connectivity, a smart key system, push-button engine ignition, remote engine start, an Advanced Driver-Assist, a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, HD Radio technology, Siri Eyes Free for virtual assistance, hands-free text messaging ability, a three-month SiriusXM Radio trial subscription, and four USB ports and an auxiliary audio jack for hooking up portable devices. Standard safety features include a six-airbag system, cruise control, a rearview camera, dynamic vehicle control with traction control, active ride control, intelligent trace control, hill start assist, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, rear door alert, and a theft-deterrent system. Driver-assistance tech consists of intelligent forward collision warning, an intelligent driver awareness system, and automatic emergency braking. If you go with the 2020 model year, you will get a full-fledged driver-assistance system with the ProPILOT Assist suite on the upper-level trims.
